We all know why you're here. You're fresh from Netflix's The Witcher show adaptation and we also know that that darned cliffhanger of an ending has left many Witcher fans craving more. Anyway, it's not hard to get more of The Witcher. Fun as that might sound, The Witcher 3 is not without its faults. It's a five-year-old game, after all, and plenty of small cracks are still waiting to be buffed. When it comes to that, you can thank the PC gaming community wholeheartedly as they have fixed many of The Witcher 3 's small problems and gameplay quirks. So, to make your countless replays for The Witcher 3 even more appealing and less of a chore, toss a coin to these mods they're free, don't worry and play. Everyone and his dog is aware that Geralt is no god and holds no candle to his daughter Ciri when it comes to powers. However, having Geralt approach a signboard in order to fast travel every time in the game world can get rather old especially when you're on your tenth playthrough. Fast Travel from Anywhere solves this artificial time constraint by giving Geralt Ciri's space-defying powers. Install it and you can fast travel anywhere with no need for a signboard. This makes subsequent playthroughs less painful on your limited time as an adult so you can get to the meat of the game faster. Geralt having a limited carrying weight for his items doesn't make as much sense as the game developers thought it would. For one, everything he carries isn't even visible, so the element of realism is already gone. Meanwhile, it also really doesn't affect gameplay balance that much. So do yourself a favor and make Geralt a walking medieval supermarket by installing the Over - Weight Limit Mod. This expands the weight limitation, increasing Geralt's carrying capacity or even making it infinite if you want. It's a perfect mod for hoarders and magpies who just don't want to get rid of that beautiful but subpar wavy steel sword. What goes well with unlimited carrying capacity for a witcher you ask? The AutoLoot mod , of course! Because picking up and dissecting each and every monster and human you kill for items and loot is way above your paygrade as a witcher. With this mod, Geralt will automatically pick up all the items from fallen enemies. Do note that for it to work perfectly, you have to have the Weight Limit Mod. It's not necessary but Geralt's measly default in-game pockets can leave many players wanting. In any case, this mod makes it faster to "farm" for money in-game which is a lot more important once you have the expensive Zerrikanian alchemist from Hearts of Stone. Now, if you're not a big fan of the Weight Limit Mod since it can be categorized as cheating or you just don't appreciate cluttered inventories, then a good alternative could be Additional Stash Locations. It's a mod that adds more stashes in the game world which makes it easier to store and swap items. It's also a good medium point between unlimited inventory space and weight or the default carrying limit. The mod adds eight new stashes in the game and even moves two of them to a more convenient location. So, if you're on the fence about increasing Geralt's carrying capacity, then more stashes in the game world just might work for you. Getting tired of switching objectives every time you want to follow another quest? It does what it literally says, which is to put all the objective markers for all quests on the area or world map. This way, you don't have to wade through the quest menus. Just walk up to a marker you see in the area map and you can start, trigger, or finish the quest. Not only that, but it can also add some important merchants and make them distinguishable. If the game starts looking like it was made by Ubisoft, don't worry; the mod lets you customize which markers will clutter your map. Geralt is armed to the teeth and has a plethora of tools that can even determine the outcome of each encounter especially on higher difficulty levels. Oils are a good example of this but be honest, most players don't even bother with them since applying them interrupts the combat. Thankfully, a mod called Auto Apply Oils does the job for you automatically so you don't have to keep opening the menu every time a different monster appears. That's right, the mod even knows which oil to apply for any occasion. This way, you can maximize Geralt's tools without ruining the flow of combat. Apart from being a witcher, Geralt sometimes also sidelines as a clown whose claim to notoriety is rolling down the stairs involuntarily. It's funny but when you're controlling the old witcher, it can get frustrating, especially when you're chasing monsters or bandits who like to block stairs. This needs to stop. It simply removes Geralt's tendency to succumb to his old man's ankles and leg muscles when descending or even ascending stairs. It's a must-have unless you're not serious about being a witcher. A witcher is supposedly enhanced through mutations and can withstand more punishment and damage compared to most regular humans and even nonhumans. Geralt is no exception but apparently, his mutations never got to his legs which was probably why he also keeps rolling down the stairs. Anyway, it's up to us to fix Geralt's mutation shortcomings by giving him legs of steel with the No Fall Damage mo d. It removes all fall damage Geralt is supposed to receive when falling from a mere 6-foot drop or higher. Now you can finally make him parkour through the rooftops of Novigrad. We've said it before on this list and we'll say it again: the user interface in The Witcher 3 could use a rework. A simple tweak does that job and it's called Better Icons. It changes the icons for your crafting materials, oils, decoctions, and many other inventory elements to make them less of an eyesore. With this mod, you can spend less time looking for what you need in Geralt's bags. Because for some reason, decoctions and oils all need to look alike with only the colors changed. Better Icons fixes this by giving labels to the icons and making the icons' color coding which is handy for those of us with bad eyes. It's fun to use swords as a witcher but then you soon realize that they're no tougher than a Pringles chip. The degrading swords might be realistic but then that removes the magical appeal of Geralt's weapons which are supposedly special since he's a witcher. So, if you want to feel that your swords are made by the best blacksmiths ever, then Indestructible Items is the mod for you. It sets the durability of all of Geralt's weapons and armor to a static percent. They will not degrade no matter how many monsters, humans, or wheat fields you slay. It removes the tedium attached to the game's combat and also makes combat options more exciting. For best results, download all of these mods for a better Witcher experience. When one talks about some of the greatest video games ever made, it's only a matter of time before The Witcher 3 is brought up in this conversation. CD Projekt Red started from very humble beginnings with the first title in the series, which ended up paving the way for a sequel and ultimately culminated in the final title of the trilogy that is considered by many to be an excellent open-world action RPG that is still going strong as a playable — and highly enjoyable — title. Playing The Witcher 3 on the PC is arguably the best way to experience this masterpiece , mainly due to the manner in which one can integrate a whole crack of mods to improve one's time spent with the game. Keeping this in mind, here are the best mods that someone can install in their copy of The Witcher 3 in order to optimize their experience with the game. Updated on July 26th, by Ritwik Mitra: The Witcher 3 is one of the greatest video games of all time. One can argue that the entire reason for CD Projekt Red's reputation in the video game industry is mainly due to the massive success of this title. PC players can enhance their playthrough of this RPG even further with the help of a few choice mods that can make a world of difference. Keeping this in mind, here are some of the best mods for The Witcher 3 that players should try out. Like most games, The Witcher 3 makes it relatively simple to add mods on PC, at least at face value. Here is the general process:. If a mod's description has specific installation instructions, please stick to those. The program Vortex can also be a useful tool for coordinating and managing mods for The Witcher 3. As is the case with most E3 reveals, the visuals of The Witcher 3 were certainly different in the event as opposed to the final release. For what its worth, the visuals weren't necessarily a downgrade, although the lighting did take a severe hit. Players who want the original lighting of the game can opt for the Super Turbo Lighting mod. It changes the lighting to make it more reminiscent of the E3 demos that were shown, and is certainly a fresh way to experience The Witcher 3 once again. One of the biggest things that irk people in The Witcher 3 is that Geralt can take a ton of hits from powerful monsters and is generally in peak physical shape The No Fall Damage mod gets rid of this annoyance, meaning that players can freely roam around the world of The Witcher 3 without having to worry about some extremely avoidable deaths. The world of The Witcher 3 might be fun to explore, but one can't deny the fact that there are times when trying to find a signpost for the sole purposes of fast traveling can get slightly annoying. Thankfully, with this mod , players now have full liberty to fast travel to any part of the map without having to accomplish the tiresome task of reaching a signpost. The Witcher 3 might sport stellar narratives and challenges across the majority of its questlines The Always Full EXP mod aims to change this, providing a bunch of balanced options to ensure that players don't feel like they're wasting their time with some of the quests in the game. That being said, there are still substantial improvements that can be made in this area, something that can be achieved with this mod. Players who consider the HUD to be essential for immersion's sake will find this to be one of their personal must-have Witcher 3 mods. One has to admit that, for the sheer level of main and side quests present in The Witcher 3 , the game doesn't really do a great job of allowing players to track these objectives easily through the map. Thankfully, the All Quest Objectives On Map mod fixes this problem by performing the exact function that is stated in the name itself — it allows players to track multiple quest objectives on the map without being too convoluted. In fact, this mod even allows for players to switch the active quest objective with a single push of the button as well! Grinding is a pain in any RPG. While The Witcher 3 avoids this for the most part, this grinding can get slightly overbearing when hunting for monster and creature parts. This is where the Increased Creature Loot mod comes into the picture. This mod has various versions, all of which end up increasing the total loot that monsters can drop exponentially. The base game ends up limiting the total number of skill slots and mutations in order to offer more of a balanced experience. However, this limitation can be somewhat irksome for players who want to explore the entirety of Geralt's arsenal without any limitations. This mod aims to accomplish exactly that by removing these limitations on skills and mutations. All of the sudden, the player can be spoiled for choice with the sheer level of customization when it comes to Geralt's augments and movesets. Of course, there's always a balanced option for people who still want a decent level of challenge with this game. While the idea of using oils to fight certain enemies can seem rather strategic and interesting, one has to admit that going through the entire process of heading to the menu and selecting the appropriate oil to use can prove to be somewhat cumbersome after a point. With the Auto Apply Oils mod , this headache is completely negated. This mod scans the enemies around Geralt when he gets into combat and automatically applies the appropriate oils to tackle this situation. It might not be the most irritating thing in the world to loot items in The Witcher 3 , however, there are times when having to loot each and every container in the game's world can get kinda irritating. With the AutoLoot mod , this issue becomes a thing of the past. Now, players can configure this system to loot the items they want from containers without any manual input, which is certainly great indeed. Weapon durability is something that has been a major topic of contention in The Witcher 3 , with most people wholeheartedly agreeing that — barring a few games like Breath of the Wild — the mechanic of weapon durability doesn't really accomplish anything and ends up being a complete headache, as a result. So, for people who want to enjoy The Witcher 3 without their experience being hampered by needless mechanics, this mod is an absolute must-have. Another annoying mechanic in video games that ultimately ends up being a headache of sorts is having a weight limit. While this mechanic may prevent unnecessary hoarding and amassing a quick fortune, it definitely comes at the cost of being a major annoyance when the player is roaming the landscape freely but is immediately stopped in their tracks since they've exceeded the weight limit. Thankfully, with the Over — Weight Limit mod , players can now explore the rich world of The Witcher 3 without having to worry about being over-encumbered in the slightest. The graphics of The Witcher 3 are already in a class of their own. However, for players who want these faces to boast even more impressive detail, then this best mod for The Witcher 3 should be right up their alley. High Quality Faces increases the LOD and quality of every face in the game, which is quite a treat to witness firsthand. Players who are sticklers when it comes to the graphics of any title would definitely enjoy the changes made by this mod. The Witcher series generally does a great job of adhering to the lore and rules of the world set by its author, Andrzej Sapkowski. However, the game is somewhat guilty for beautifying most of the characters in the game in order to make them look more pleasing to the eye By installing Lore-Friendly Witchers , players will be able to finally look at Geralt and the rest of the Witchers in the manner that they were intended. It's a small change, but a welcome one regardless. Given the incredible graphics of The Witcher 3 , one would assume that the game doesn't really need a visual upgrade at all. People with great rigs who can handle the graphical requirements of one of the best Witcher 3 mods will be able to enjoy the game with what is essentially the freshest coat of paint one can apply to the graphics. With the console release of Hell Let Loose coming next month, players on PS5 are getting a chance to check out the game as part of an open beta. Here is the general process: Head into The Witcher 3 's install directory. Create a new folder entitled "Mods. Add the mod's files to the "Mods" folder. Share Share Tweet Email. Related Topics Lists The Witcher 3. Ritwik Mitra Articles Published. Games, music, TV shows, movies, and a little bit of everything else. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the best PC RPGs of all time , so the thought of modding it sometimes feels like garnishing a kingly steak with ketchup and not even Heinz. But the best Witcher 3 mods really do make for an even better game—or at least a more convenient or different game, which is welcome in your second or third trip through the Northern Realms. Even Geralt likes to change things up sometimes. Below you'll find our list of the best mods for The Witcher 3, updated for a new playthrough in or beyond. The best Witcher 3 mods include texture overhauls, quality of life boosts like auto looting, and the superhuman ability to frolic through shallow water. We've also listed some popular combat overhauls that subtly and dramatically rework The Witcher 3's most criticized element. You can even make Geralt look more like Henry Cavill, his Netflix counterpart. Unless otherwise noted, all of these mods should work with the last Witcher 3 patch, version 1. Download Link. This little mod unlocks the debug console, letting you use console commands to change settings, spawn enemies, fix broken things, etc. All of the Witcher mods live on Nexus, and the Nexus Mod Manager is the single best way to wrangle all the competing and conflicting changes that mods might be bringing to your game. If you do see a specific load order, the NMM is where you go to make that change. Otherwise incompatible mods could work perfectly if you load one before the other. If you are installing a lot of mods, do it just like your mother taught you: go slow, take it easy, and say your prayers. It was news to us. If you are trying to install more mods than the game wants to allow, the Mod Merger can help. The process will take about 15 minutes, but basically the merger will combine your compatible mods into a single customized bundle just for you. Too many mods? No no, sir, as you can see, I am installing only one enormous mod. As above, be careful with this one. Witcher 3 mods : Good hunting Witcher 2 mods : Mods fit for a king Witcher 1 mods : Quality of life for the classic The Witcher season 2 : Release date, cast, and trailers. Geralt's world already has dozens of signposts for fast travel, but sometimes you'll still find yourself spending ages coaxing Roach across countryside for the nearest one. If you're not down for that sometimes humdrum bit of roleplay, this mod lets you teleport to any fast travel point from anywhere, much in the style of Skyrim. Use your new fast travel abilities with caution and don't get too hasty: overriding the existing system reportedly causes problems with a tiny number of quests. When all else fails, try to resolve conflicts with the mod merger. This mod adds every map icon to the map all the time, including nearby merchants and any quest objective for any quest in your journal. Your Stash is accessible from a few places around the world, but this mod asks: Why not more? Installing this will add eight new stash locations and relocate two of the standard stash locations to more convenient areas. One of the best parts of the early Witcher game is feeling like you need to do your homework before any big contract. This mod recaptures some of that old magic by making meditation a more meaningful process. You need to meditate to spend points in your skill tree, refill alchemical items and oils, and repair items. If Preparations Mod sounds like more trouble than fun, check out Friendly Meditation. Instead, the HUD falls away and you get a nice view of the clouds zipping past, the stars rotating, and the sun rising over the mountains. Sometimes, a Witcher just needs to take a damn minute, you know? The Witcher 3's UI can feel a bit cluttered, but turning parts of it off can make the game overly difficult. This mod has several features, available in separate downloads if you only want one or two, that improve the on-screen issues. From holding a key down to enter meditation without using the menu, to hiding quest markers unless you're using your Witcher sense, plus HUD elements that can individually be toggled on and off without having to open your menu, and lots more. Is it a big deal? But it sure does look nice. This mod adds a little hanging lamp to your little sailboat. Look at that Witcher go. Since there are no woodchippers in the Northern Kingdoms, this mod that disables those storybook narration videos that you have to listen to over and over again will have to do. If you've ever felt that The Witcher 3's combat lacks a certain cinematic flair, be sure to pick up this gem. It slows down the action when Geralt lands a critical hit, allowing you to gape in awe at how perfectly that bandit's head flew from his shoulders. If you're feeling particularly vicious, modder KNGR also made a version that combines this with his popular More Blood mod. One of the finest bits of roleplaying in The Witcher 3 is its system of weapon oils, as there's some genuine satisfaction in knowing the right mixture for the job. But after hours and hours of digging in Geralt's bags and applying them, even the most dedicated roleplayer among us would be hard-pressed to deny it gets tedious. That's where Auto Apply Oils comes in. Once you're in range of an enemy type specific to a certain oil, it'll automatically apply the oil and leave you to the business of hacking at it with a slab of silver. Sick of rummaging through corpses after every battle? This mod automatically picks up all the area loot for Geralt, regardless of whether he's just been battling rotfiends or digging through drawers in Oxenfurt. That's welcome enough in itself, but what makes Auto Loot so great is that it also ensures that Geralt doesn't accidentally steal valuables in his auto-looting frenzy, and it lets you customize what he picks up and what he leaves behind. Any old, random picture we happen to have around. For some long-time Witcher fans, there was once a golden era. All the wine was sweet, all the swords were sharp, and every ghoul was slow and stupid. They call this time: E3 There are several E3 mods that change this or that to more closely resemble how Witcher 3 looked when it was demoed at that happier, simpler time. Geralt is much less acrobatic, and he keeps his feet on the ground and his sword pointed forward. This is a good mod for players who want a combat system that plays pretty much the same, but without all the Cirque du Soleil showiness. Plus, if you have a second to breathe in combat, Geralt will flex his hands and idly twirl his sword to stay loose. Mods to lighten or weigh down your load, rebalance loot and make your gear look cooler than ever. Geralt can already carry quite a bit considering he's just a guy with sweet leather getups and two cumbersome swords, but if you're the sort of hoarder who can't bear the thought of tossing away a collection of Witch Hunter's Swords, then this is the mod for you. The resulting weight limit? You guessed it, Vegeta. It's over 9, Now you'll almost never have to worry about whether you should hang on to that trophy that's taking up so much room but has an extremely situational bonus. Just do it. The game may be called Wild Hunt, but hunting creatures and monsters isn't a great way to make a living. If you're tired of bagging a bunch of deer and walking away with little to show for it, the Increased Creature Loot mod will up your chances of animals dropping meat, hide, and other ingredients. It's annoying to cart a load of loot into town and find a vendor so poor he can't afford to buy it all. This mod gives vendors some deeper pockets, and gently encourages them to pay you more for your goods. This patch was abandoned before 1. Eventually it all starts to feel like work, right? He sells all his usual wares and almost every card in the game. Ugly gear. On the other hand, this is the most amazing mod ever designed. Most importantly, new key bindings will have Geralt raise or lower his hood, depending on the weather and your mood. There are more gear set mods out there than you can shake a silver sword at, but one of our favorites is the Sezon Burz gear. Based on descriptions from the Andrzej Sapkowski book Storm Season, this set fits right in with the Witcher lore and world design while being totally new. Plus, it comes in several level and power options so you can wear it throughout your Northern Kingdom adventure. If spending time and money repairing your gear is getting tedious, Indestructible Items pulls the entire weapon degradation system out of the game. This graphical overhaul mod hit another major milestone in , reaching version It's a 9. Rocks, trees, crates, roofs, walls, waterfalls, furs, and floors have all been overhauled with increased resolutions and brightness. The video above gives some great transition examples so you can see the difference yourself. This handy tool lets you transform Geralt and Roach at the touch of a button, adding cloaks, new haircuts and changing the appearance of armor that you can combine to create presets that you can switch to instantly. All the changes are cosmetic, so you can give yourself the best-looking gear in the game straight away without breaking the game balance. This mod makes Geralt look a bit more like a mutant, with paler skin and more striking, feline eyes, along with some other touches that make him look a bit more like his counterpart from the books and earlier games. If the hot dad look isn't doing it for you, try this on for size. Unhappy with the camera placement while you're running, fighting, riding, or swimming? Absolute Camera doesn't just change the camera distance and angle but gives you over a dozen completely customizable options for camera placement during Geralt's many activities. In the video above you can get a look at just how flexible the new camera tools are. If you're looking for a better weather experience in Novigrad and environs, then be sure to pick up this relatively recent mod. It places a heavy emphasis on fog, but it also brings other treats such as more snow in Skellige and better light rain animations. If you think it overdoes it, the description page has a list of settings you can freely change with console commands. Want to take some awesome screenshots of Geralt in action? This mod provides a toggle button that lets you freeze the game at will, then fly your camera around in 3D space to line up the perfect picture. There's also a toggle for making yourself invisible and an option to spawn fog and mist to make your shots more atmospheric. Requires the Debug Console Enabler. If you want to make the most of the PhotoMode, check out our guide on how to take a screenshot and get some inspiration from our collection of fantasy landscape screenshots. Looking for a more lush and colorful look? The Fantasy Graphics mod removes some of the bluish tint from the game and makes some tweaks to the lighting to provide more of a high fantasy look. Wipe them on your pants to get them clean, just like the pros do. The Witcher 3 is good. Great, even. But what if it was more like a Tarantino film? More Blood adds bucketloads of blood and blood trails. If your rig has the horsepower to spare, consider using this mod to ramp up the draw distance. This mod comes with a whole range of options from a little boost to a huge, miles-long vista view. Torches on walls will cast their own shadow over the sconce below them, and large braziers in cities will throw all kinds of harsh angles across cobbled streets. Patrolling guards carrying torches will also cast shadows, but this can be a little wonky. Just like the More Shadows mod, except exactly not like that. The opposite, in fact. Most NPC vampires, being the unnatural creatures that they are, cast no shadows even though they walk in the sun! Check out the mod's page for a list of other Witcher 3 mods to turn Geralt into the biggest, TV-ready version of himself possible. As of posting, the Henry Cavill mod is still very new, but the author has plans to continue adding additional Cavill versions of Geralt in the future. Need a few more weapons and armor options? This mod makes NPC weapons, like Imlerith's giant mace and several others, available to Geralt either through merchants or by crafting. New schematics in shops will allow for even more weapon options, and upgrades are available for relics as well. The biggest change is that it removes autotargeting. There are new animations, new ways to parry, and different ways to charge over distances. Every attack has a chance to cause an injury, so you might need to finish a fight with a crippled arm or a broken leg. The changes are so big that they bleed over into leveling, alchemy, signs, and items. Gcrack Mode is no less ambitious than the Enhanced Edition, but it uses a scalpel instead of a sledgehammer. If you think The Witcher 3 is busted and needs a total overhaul from the roots, head to the Enhanced Edition.
